About KeepFrame

The people behind KeepFrame

Your tapes are handled here in Houston by KeepFrame's founder and two local team members — not shipped to an anonymous out-of-state processing facility.

The Team

A small Houston team handles every archive

KeepFrame is run by three Houston-based team members who have known one another for nearly 30 years. Each person has a primary responsibility, but the team is cross-trained across the full process — from intake and capture through organization, privacy, and delivery.

Stan — Founder & Archive Lead

Stan is your main point of contact and oversees intake, final quality review, and delivery. Stan brings experience building and operating businesses and, outside KeepFrame, enjoys nature and live music.

Kenny — Capture & Quality Lead

Kenny prepares and captures the physical media entrusted to KeepFrame and reviews the finished files for quality. Previous restaurant-management experience brings careful organization, customer service, and attention to every handoff. Outside KeepFrame, Kenny enjoys animals and cooking.

Kyle — Systems & Privacy Lead

Kyle maintains the systems behind KeepFrame's chaptering, search, hosting, and privacy workflows. Hands-on experience building and maintaining demanding computer infrastructure brings a practical approach to reliability and data handling. Outside KeepFrame, Kyle enjoys dogs and film.

In our own words

Stan

"The highlight reel — I have two young kids now. I can see what I looked like at five months old right alongside my own kid, or how my cousins and siblings looked at the ages my son is hitting now. It's just really cool watching his first steps next to mine, and seeing how my dad was with me compared to how I am with him. Really cool memories."

Kenny

"Just the chaptering, honestly. Watching the original tapes straight through, I couldn't hold focus for five minutes. With the chapters it's genuinely interesting in a way I never would have predicted."

Kyle

"Also the highlight reel — my last five years are already basically documented on my smartphone. It's very cool to see the same thing from 20 to 30 years ago, and see how we all were before the digital age hit the maturity it has today."

How KeepFrame Started

How KeepFrame started

KeepFrame started because Kenny and I forgot our mom's 70th birthday present. Her stack of VHS tapes she'd wanted digitized for years seemed as good a present as any.

Since Kyle had always been good with computers, we called him and asked if he knew how to digitize VHS tapes. He didn't, but his response was basically, "How hard could it be?"

Two broken VCRs, 2.5 months later we had everything digital for her late birthday present (she loved it).

But we still had another problem: about 80 hours of family footage and no practical way to find anything in it. Watching an entire tape just to locate one birthday, first step, or family member wasn't realistic.

I also really didn't want our private family footage uploaded to someone else's computer or an outside AI service.

That was when this stopped being a very late birthday present and started becoming KeepFrame.
